The wellness philosophy is made up of major life areas that work together to create and build a more whole and complete way of living. Each aspect involves achieving an optimal level of functioning in that area, and contributes towards improving quality of life. Each aspect is interconnected and directly affects and impacts the others.

The aim is to obtain a degree of balance and harmony across all aspects of health and wellness. At times one may overlap the others, but under or over-prioritizing or neglecting any one aspect for any length of time will cause it to be out of sync and out of balance with the others, thus having an adverse effects on your health and well-being.

The 9 Aspects of Wellness are Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Emotional, Social, Intellectual, Financial, Occupational, and Environmental. While the exact aspects of wellness could be debated, we believe the ones listed in this model includes all major life areas and can be easily broken down to smaller combinations.

Physical WellnessPhysical Wellness means respecting and taking care of your body by achieving a high state of physical well-being that includes physical fitness, physical nutrition and physical/personal care. The objective is to create a healthy lifestyle that's capable of moving you towards an optimal level of health.

Mental WellnessMental Wellness or mental health are terms used to describe how well the brain-mind is physically and operationally functioning. The brain is the "central command center" of the human body that generates and orchestrates the symphony of perception, thoughts, behavior and actions. The brain generates its own mental representations and behavior. It controls all basic functions of your body including our internal organs, movements, thoughts and emotions.

The brain is an electro-chemical computer where Mental Wellness can be considered the hardware and operating system and thoughts and emotions (Emotional Wellness) are programs that run on top.

Mental health is a term used to describe either a level of cognitive or emotional well-being or an absence of a mental disorder. It is a state of emotional and psychological well-being in which an individual is able to use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities to function in society, cope with and adjust to the recurrent stressors of everyday living in an acceptable way. It's the ability to meet the ordinary demands of everyday life in a healthy manner.

Spiritual WellnessSpiritual wellness is the ongoing process of discovering and cultivating your spiritual inner self. Spirituality, spiritual wellness and faith can be defined as a believe in something and it can take on many different unique meanings and forms for each individual. Many factors such as religious faith, values, ethics, principles, morals, attitude and gratitude play a part in defining spirituality. Spiritual Wellness is the quest of discovering meaning, value and purpose in life that results in hope, joy, courage, inner peace and gratitude as well as demonstrating it through behaviors.

Emotional Wellness
Emotional Wellness refers to your ability to recognize, understand, accept and effectively manage your thoughts, feelings and incoming stressors in an manner that enables you to maintain a positive emotional state where you feel content, joy, love and at times happiness.

It is ability to effectively deal with a variety of situations and learning how your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings affect your decisions and actions. Emotional wellness is also ability to feel good about yourself, achieve a positive and optimistic attitude, high self-esteem and self-worth as well as the ability to create and maintain satisfying relationships. It is also the ability to respond resiliently and effectively to changing emotional states and effectively cope with a wide variety of situations, stressors and disappointments that present challenges and obstacles.

An emotionally well person is able to enjoy life and be successful. Emotional wellness is an ongoing dynamic process of change and growth.

Social Wellness
Social Wellness is the process of developing and maintaining a network of healthy relationships through the choices and actions we make on a daily basis. It's the ability to embrace a healthy supportive relationships with family, friends, significant others, colleagues, and strangers.

Social wellness is an important necessary aspect of life-wellness that helps define a part of who we are and how we feel towards achieving a full and complete life. Social wellness is closely intertwined with emotional, physical and mental wellness that helps create a well-balanced life that has harmony, joy, love and peace with nature and everyone around you.

Intellectual Wellness
Intellectual Wellness is achieved through curiosity, an openness to new ideas, a capacity to question and think critically, and a strong desire to learn. Intellectual wellness encourages creative stimulating mental activities.

Any activity that inspires and stimulates your willingness, desire and intent to learn, explore and expand your mind intellectually in any way supports healthy Intellectual Wellness. It also means being free intellectually to you learn something new.

A healthy state of Intellectual Wellness is to feel stimulated and engaged with continuous learning about yourself and all that is around you.

Financial Wellness
Financial health and wellness can be defined as a state or quality of a person's financial health or wealth. Financial health and wellness can be created, conserved or lost and can fluctuate between changing circumstances. Financial wellness is a process of managing resources in order to access and sustain life-enhancing material goods and services. It can bring a sense of security, peace of mind, economic freedom and enable options that help a person seek and achieve a lifestyle that promotes life-wellness.

Regardless of how you define it, you should take care of your personal financial wellness in such a manner that enables you to be prepared to handle any financial challenges that may arise.

Occupational Wellness
Occupational wellness refers to state of a person's paid or non-paid vocational or work activities and environment. A very healthy state of occupational wellness is a person is doing exactly what they want to do in life and is comfortable and content with their personal and financial situation and future plans.

Occupational wellness involves using your skills and knowledge that contribute to the goals and objectives as well as seeking challenges that lead to personal growth.

It's the ability to work in an environment that is congruent with one's values, beliefs, and is stimulating and inherently fulfilling, while allowing leisure time for personal and family commitments and activities.

Environmental Wellness
Environmental wellness refers to your relationship with your immediate surroundings and expanding to nature and the world around you. It's about being aware, learning and making choices which will contribute to sustaining or improving the quality of environment. It refers to becoming aware that we're are all a part of nature and recognizing that we need to take steps towards maintaining a lifestyle that maximizes harmony with the earth's nature environment.
